Help us continue the struggle

With the increase of legal persecution against Palestinian demonstrators, AATW are now fundraising to expand its existing legal fund so that it also covers defense costs for Palestinians. This is in addition to covering a standing 15,000 USD debt, resulting from the legal persecution of Israeli anti-wall demonstrators.

We urge you to read our call for support and to please make a donation that will enable us to continue the struggle.

2008 ENDS, LEGAL HARRASSMENT INTENSIFIES

The month of December saw an abrupt, rather-suspicious surge in indictments filed against AAtW activists. Police dug up a whole plethora of old charges - over 50 of them, some more than a couple of years old! - and suddenly decided to file them all within the space of a few weeks. The charges relate to offenses allegedly committed not only during actions against the occupation and against Israel's 2006 attack on southern Lebanon, but also during Women's Rights and First of May, in a way highlighting the interconnectedness of all different forms of oppression and of the fight against them.

As to whether or not this uncommon move by the police is a conscious, political attempt to cripple activists with mounting legal costs, we can only speculate. We can, however, be entirely certain that regardless of any and all legal maneuvers by the Israeli state, Anarchists in Israel will continue to oppose injustice and fight oppression on all fronts.
