Activists occupy tanks at the Gaza border
For several hours today, 30 Israeli Anarchists seized and occupied tanks and bulldozers at a military staging ground bordering the Gaza Strip for hours, protesting against the Israeli war machine and the recent massacres in Beit Hanoun.

The demonstrators arrived early in the morning to a military camp, between the Carni and Erez crossings, serving as a parking lot for some 100 armored personal carriers (APC), tanks and other war machines. While some activists climbed on the tanks to occupy them, others displayed dummies soaked in blood and photos of the victims of Beit Hanoun on and around the armored vehicles.

The police and army initially tried removing the activists from the spot, as soldiers ripped down the pictures of Palestinian victims. Eventually the police relented and left the area. The protesters continued to occupy the tanks for three hours.
This action is a part of a month long coordinated campaign of Israeli peace groups which included car convoys to Gaza, demonstrations in Tel-Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem, and direct actions. The coalition includes: Gush Shalom, Women's Coalition for Peace, Anarchists Against Walls, Taayush, and others.
