Seven injured and three arrested in Ni'ilin

About 100 people managed to get to the wall's construction site today at around 11:00, and disrupted the bulldozers' work, and one young Palestinian even managed to climb on one of the machines. Even before reaching the bulldozers the demonstrators were attacked with teargas and rubber-coated bullets, as well as kicks and punches. Seven were injured and three were arrested.
23 demonstrators arrested in front of colonel's house

23 demonstrators were violently arrested in front of the house of Colonel Aviv Reshef, who is the army commander of the regiment stationed in the Ni'ilin region. The demonstrators were arrested while protesting the murder of two minors in Ni'ilin last week. The two – Ahmed Mousa, 10 years old, and Youssef Amireh, 17 years old, were shot by the Israeli border police.

Youssef Amireh's funeral procession
Youssef Amireh, the second mortal victim of the military suppression of the Ni'ilin uprising, succumbed to his fatal wounds today after struggling for five days at the Ramallah hospital. Thousands attended his funeral procession, which was stopped in two different flying checkpoints, which were set up for no other reason but to delay it, on its way from Ramallah to the village. The people who waited to receive the procession at the entrance to the village were assaulted with teargas, concussion grenades and rubber coated bullets just in order to push them away from the entrance to the village into farther inside it.

01/08/2008For the first time since the murder and mortal injury that shocked Ni'ilin this week, about 600 villagers marched to their lands accompanied by Israeli and international supporters. The villagers prayed on their lands, and then, despite a massive presence of border police forces, went on to dismantle the razor wire barricade Ahmed Mousa was killed after trying to dismantle.

Youssef Amireh in the hospital after suffering a mortal injuriy
At around 19:30 today an Israeli border policeman shot Youssef Amireh, 17 years old, in the head at close range with a rubber coated bullet, causing him mortal wounds. Amireh was shortly after pronounced brain dead by the doctors in the Ramallah hospital. The incident took place just hours after the funeral of ten year old Ahmed Mousa, who was murdered by a border policeman yesterday.

The body of ten years old Ahmed Mousa at the Ramallah hospital
Ten years old Ahmed Mousa was murdered by a border policeman in Ni'ilin today. He was shot in the forehead from a short distance, while on his lands and posing absolutely no threat. The shot killed him on the spot, and two of his brothers had to carry his lifeless body back to the village, about a kilometer away, leaving a thick trail of blood behind them.
