Help us continue the struggle

With the increase of legal persecution against Palestinian demonstrators, AATW are now fundraising to expand its existing legal fund so that it also covers defense costs for Palestinians. This is in addition to covering a standing 15,000 USD debt, resulting from the legal persecution of Israeli anti-wall demonstrators.

We urge you to read our call for support and to please make a donation that will enable us to continue the struggle.

Tristan Anderson, 38, an American citizen, was critically injured on Friday, March 13, by Israeli troops during protests against Israel's Wall in the West Bank village of Ni’lin. He was hit in his forehead by a new type of high velocity, extended range teargas projectile, and has been transferred to Tel Hashomer hospital, near Tel Aviv. Tristan has suffered numerous condensed fractures to his forehead, and sustained life-threatening injuries to his brain, as well as to his right eye. He is expected to undergo several operations in the coming days, in addition to the one he underwent on Friday.

Anyone wishing to contact Tristan's parents with messages of support is encouraged to write to Support.Tristan@gmail.com

March 22 update: There has been some deterioration in Tristan's condition over the weekend, and he had had to undergo two more emergency brain surgeries due to elevated cerebral pressure. Tristan's condition is now once more defined critical and unstable, and he is fighting for his life. Tristan's parents and lawyer will hold a press conference in Jerusalem tomorrow afternoon.
March 17 update:
Tristan's parents are now in the hospital with him. He is once more connected to a respiration apparatus and heavily anesthetized - not due to any complications in his brain injuries, but to a difficulty breathing caused by Pneumonia.
March 16 update: Tristan has been disconnected from the artificial respiration today, and is now breathing on his own. The doctors are also gradually lowering his anesthetics, but regaining full consciousness may take weeks. Tristan's parents are expected to arrive in the hospital today.
March 15 update: Tristan's anesthesia was slightly reduced to preform a series of tests by his doctors. In those tests he was able to respond to a doctor's order by moving two of his right hand fingers. He is still respirated, and was put back under heavy anesthetics. A demonstration in front of the Ministry of Defense was held in Tel Aviv today in support of Tristan and the Palestinian struggle.

On Friday, Israeli and international activists joined the West Bank villages of Ni’ilin, Bil’in, Jayyous and al Ma'asara in their weekly protests against the wall, the ever-expanding illegal settlements and the brutality of Israel’s military occupation. As in previous weeks, the assembled crowds encountered repression and violence from the army while trying to exercise their right to protest on their own lands. Residents of Ni’ilin held this week’s protest in solidarity with Tristan Anderson, the American activist critically injured by a teargas canister while taking part in a demonstration in that same village a week earlier.

On Friday, Israeli and international activists joined Palestinian demonstrations in the West Bank villages of Um Salmuna, Bil’in, Ni’ilin and Wadi arRasha against the Apartheid Wall and the theft of their lands under “security” pretexts and settlement expansion. Demonstrators were met with repression and violence by Israeli troops, yet managed to carry on with their protests, sending a clear message that the joint popular struggle against the wall will not be stopped by force or threats.

In the West Bank villages of Jayyous, Bil’in and Ni’ilin, Palestinians were joined this Friday by Israeli and international activists in their continuing weekly demonstrations against Israel's wall. Despite a harsh weather of hard rains and strong winds which continued for most of the day, residents of these three villages took part in protest marches and attempted to reach the wall being built on - and separating them from - their lands. As in previous weeks, Israeli troops stopped and dispersed the demonstrations with violence.

While the joint popular struggle against the wall in Ni’ilin is nearing its’ tenth month, residents of Bil’in marked the fourth anniversary of their weekly protests, with an exceptionally large march and rally. As in previous weeks, both ended with Israeli troops firing teargas canisters, rubber-coated steel bullets and even live ammunition at demonstrators, causing several injuries.
