Weekly Demonstrations in Bil'in, Ni'ilin and Um Salmuna

On Friday, Israeli and international activists joined Palestinians in the West Bank villages of Bil'in, Ni'ilin and Um Salmuna demonstrating against the Apartheid wall built on their lands. As in previous weeks, protest marches in all three villages were met with repression from Israeli troops determined to stop the joint popular struggle against the occupation by military violence.

On Friday, as in previous weeks, Israeli and international activists joined hundreds of residents in the West Bank villages of Bil'in, Ni'ilin and Jayyous demonstrating against the theft of their lands by Israel's settlements expansion and the construction of its Apartheid Wall. Israeli soldiers dispersed demonstrators and attacked the villages using teargas canisters, rubber-coated steel bullets and live ammunition, resulting in numerous injuries.

Saturday evening, after 21 days of war and only a few hours before the National Security Cabinet voted for a "unilateral ceasefire" in Gaza - while maintaining Israeli military presence throughout the Strip - around three thousand people marched from Tel Aviv into Jaffa in opposition to Operation "Cast Lead".

Wednesday morning, over twenty people showed up at the entrance to the induction base for drafted soldiers in Tel HaShomer, to support Maya Yechieli-Wind and Raz Bar David-Veron. The two young Israeli COs, signees of the "Shministim" Seniors Letter, were accompanied by activists banging drums and holding banners in support of those refusing to join the army - particularly in these times, as Israel's military engages in massive war crimes against Gaza's civilians.
Baqa alGharbiya Rallies Against the War
09/01/2009Friday afternoon tens of thousands gathered in the Israeli-Palestinian town of Baqa alGharbiya to protest the continuing attack on Gaza's population. The mass demonstration, organized by the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee, mourned the dead with raised black flags and showed its solidarity with Gaza's struggle by waiving Palestinian ones.
